Being Green is Easy !
We all need to commit ourselves to be a part of the solution
and work together with the bees,
towards the sustainability of our planet earth.
I am making a conscious effort
to reduce my carbon footprint…
by growing my own vegetables.
As you can see,
I have been very successful with my carrots.
I am still working with my peas and corn,
that will not only put more food on my table,
but as a by-product,
produce oxygen for all of us to breathe.
Come on people, we can do this !
The time is now !
Hawaiian: Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua (dog that runs in rough waters)
You must stay a minimum of 100 feet away from them !
Dangerous:
They have razor sharp teeth and will bite to defend themselves.
Endangered: Only 1,100 remain wild and free today.
Protected by Federal Laws. MMPA of 1972 and ESA of 1973
Fines for violations up to $20,000.
Endemic (unique to, found nowhere else) to the Hawaiian Islands.
Can hold their breath for 20 minutes and dive to depths of 600 feet
to forage for fish, crabs, lobsters, shrimps, squid, and octopus.
Single pups are born about 30 lbs and nurse until they are about 200 lbs.
Mom will not leave her baby, not even to eat, until the pup is weaned at
about 6 weeks. Live as long as 30 years and grow up to 7 feet, 600 lbs.
Threats: sharks, toxins in their food, marine debris, gill-nets, humans.
Respect and help to protect our beautiful Hawaiian Monk Seals.

The winter surf was monster huge, on the North Shore of Oahu.
We had our share of jaw-dropping surf action
and caught enough salt spray to feel like two li hing muis.
I pulled into the last parking space
at the Haleiwa McDonalds at the height of the busy lunch hour.
I ripped it in there, cause I was HUNGRY !
My friend who was getting out on the passenger side started yelling….
”o kum, kum, kum ! chai look , chai look !”
I didn’t know she spoke Chinese.
I ran over to the other side of my wagon….and there “he” was.
WoW ! Just moving right along, in no particular hurry…
Doot di doo… doot di do, dum di dum, Dim sum !
Human instinct kicked in…capture it !
Why do we do that ?!
I scooped him up in an empty mayonnaise jar.
I always have one in my beach car…
you just never know when one will come in handy…like now !
Whoa ! He was “Super Long” and HUGE !
The lunch lines were “Super Long” inside the Haleiwa McDonalds
so we decided to move on and headed up the pineapple hill, towards town.
As I drove onward…we enjoyed our new friend.
His name, Ronald.
Whoa ! if I had been just two seconds earlier
Ronald would have been guacamole under my front right tire.
What does Ronald eat ?
Since we found him at McDonalds and judging by his “super long” size and shape…
I think he eats FRENCH FRIES !
What are we going to do with Ronald now ?
and where and how should we release him ?
Drop him off at the Wahiawa McDonalds… ?
so he can get something from the dollar menu.
“Kinaole” (Do the right thing), Mona !
I drove down the hill from Wahiawa, back to the Haleiwa McDonalds,
and set him FREE !
I learned many valuable lessons from today’s exciting adventure.

To see the world in a grain of sand,
and heaven in a wild flower, (William Blake)
It is believed there are 1000 stars for every grain of sand on Earth.
God created the stars. (Genesis 1:16)
He determines their numbers and knows them each by name.
(Psalm 147:4)
God created you and me, and knows each of us, by name.

Our sun makes up 99.86% of the mass in our solar system.
At the surface our sun’s temperature is 5510 ° C
According to nucleocosmochronology !?
our sun is 4.5 billion years old….Hmmmmm !?
One million of our earths is equal to one of our suns
and the distance between them is 149.6 million miles.
Sunlight is vital for life on earth.
Directly, it is our primary source of energy.
Indirectly, through photosynthesis…
Photo synthesis ?! No, no…it has nothing to do with that
brand new digital camera with all the cool buttons.
Photosynthesis: plants capture the energy of sunlight
and converts carbon dioxide
into organic compounds like sugars
and at the same time releases oxygen.
In other words, we need our sun and plants to
EAT and BREATHE.
This morning when I woke up…
my whale was out on the lanai PLAYing with the sun.
